SrinagarSrinagar is one of the most beautiful and impressive cities across India. Surrounded by lakes and mountains Srinagar is the largest settlement in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir). E located in the valley of Kashmir around on both sides of the river Jhelum River, which is a tributary of the sacred river Indus (Indus). From the capital Delhi Srinagar lies a distance slightly less than 900 miles north. Although Srinagar today is quite busy, he has managed to preserve its romantic atmosphere reminiscent of Venice for local boats and floating houses famous ships. Especially striking here are the two old bridges that connect the two divisions of the city. The unique house-boats are located around the shores of sparkling lakes nearby, especially along the coast of Lake Dal. The name of the city has its etymological meaning of the Sanskrit. It is a combination of two words – GIF, which means wealth and abundance, and soot, which translates as a city. Sri is also the name of Hindu and Goddess Lakshmi (Lakshmi). In Srinagar literally means the town of abundance and wealth. Situated in a favorable climate zone, Srinagar for centuries has been a favorite resting place of the great Indian rulers. They came here to escape the summer heat annoying. From moguls’ rulers, who also preferred recreational Srinagar today have become unique historical monuments, mosques and beautiful gardens. Some of them are Chazma Shahi, representing the royal fountains, palace of fairies – Pari Mahal, the garden of spring – a niche Bagh and others.

Varanasi

Varanasi IndiaThe Indian city of Varanasi, also known as Benares, is one of the sacred places of worship for followers of Hinduism. This colorful religious settlement was called in ancient times more Kashi. It is situated near the left bank of the Ganges, which is a fundamental part of the ritual actions of pilgrims here. From Delhi the capital city is located about 700 km southeast direction. The name Varanasi was formed under the influence of the river Ganges. It is mix of the names of its two tributaries – passing through the northern part of town and that Varuna, which flows through the south – Asi. Often called the “city of temples”, “Sacred City of India”, “City of Lights,” “religious capital of India”, “city of learning” and “cultural capital of India”. Varanasi is the Indian place for the followers, and Buddhist faith is like Mecca for Muslims and Christians of the Holy Sepulchre. Since 5000, the Benares is an important cultural, religious and historical center, which is believed to be protected by Lord Shiva. Mark Twain himself wrote that the city is “older than history, older than tradition, and even twice older than both together”. Many Indian religious leaders, philosophers, poets, writers, singers and musicians even lived in the city, including Buddha, Sankara and Kabir. According to historical sources give Buddha his first sermon near the ancient Kashi. The place is one of the residential suburbs and is located 12 km from the holy city, called Sarnath. In his speech the Buddha reveals the eight steps to achieve no inner peace, enlightenment and nirvana. A little later, Emperor Ashoka built-Maury in honor of the great teacher about 34 meters high column and numerous stupas and sacred buildings.
Here the pilgrims come and sit at one of the preceding steps the river called ghat. There are about 2000 and over 100 hrama4 ghat, some of which are coastal and others – for cremations. Usually they are bathed in the waters of the Ganges and the ritual is known as Shuja. According to beliefs at sunrise immersion purifies the soul from sin, and who died here, and avoid reincarnation. Year about 1 million pilgrims come here to seek harmony.

DelhiDelhi is the second largest metropolis in India and has a population of over 13 million people. Within the metropolis is New Delhi – the capital of the country, which is located in northern India on the banks of river Yamuna. Definitely the city is great modern capital and administrative, culture and education center of the country. The city is an important commercial center, not only for the country, but also for the whole South Asia. The strategic location of the city between Delhi Ridge and the Yamuna River, makes it easy to control the trade routes from northwest to the fertile valley of the Ganges to the southeast. Therefore, the area was inhabited since ancient times, which reflects to the modern vision of the city and determines the rich history of Delhi. A lot of monuments and important building are part from the historical heritage of the metropolis. One of the most important sightseeing in the city is the old town, where the Turks and Mughal rulers constructed several architectural marvels, just like the largest city mosque Jama Masjid. Delhi definitely is one of the Asian top destination and really impress the guests of the city with beautiful artifacts, museums and galleries.

Jaisalmer in India

JaisalmerTravel to India is always filled with a lot of interesting sightseeings and definitely one of the Asian top destinations is the Golden City. Called the Golden City, Jaisalmer is an amazing city in India, reflecting the tradition and culture of Indian people who left here many historical monuments and landmarks. Its location in the northwest, in the province of Rajasthan. The region on the border between Pakistan and India, occupies sandstone ridge in the western part of the Thar Desert. Jaisalmer is best known for its namesake castle. It was built on a hill or mountain Trikuta top three. It was built in 1156 by Reval Jaisalmer after he and his people leave their homes earlier and decided that he would settle here. Today, most residents here are descendants of original settlers. The fortress is 300 meters above the city, was built of yellow sandstone. Of massive walls is about 100 towers. They surround the five linked palace. The biggest of these is the rulers’ residence Raj Mahal. Beyond the thick walls have survived another three Jain temples built between landmark 12 and 15 century, a Hindu temple, and pretty homes of the rich people of that time. In the past, locals have used its good geographical location as a means of enrichment. They charge the passing trade caravans. Jaisalmer is located on the commercial crossroads, linking India with Central Asia, Africa, Persia, Egypt and Arabia. Since the advent of sea routes, however, the region has not won so well by traders and became a mere province.
