DelhiDelhi is the second largest metropolis in India and has a population of over 13 million people. The city is an important commercial center, not only for the country, but also for the whole South Asia. The strategic location of the city between Delhi Ridge and the Yamuna River, makes it easy to control the trade routes from northwest to the fertile valley of the Ganges to the southeast. Therefore, the area was inhabited since ancient times, which reflects to the modern vision of the city and determines the rich history of Delhi.

A lot of monuments and important building are part from the historical heritage of the metropolis. One of the most important sightseeing in the city is the old town, where the Turks and Mughal rulers constructed several architectural marvels, just like the largest city mosque Jama Masjid. Delhi definitely is one of the Asian top destination and really impress the guests of the city with beautiful artifacts, museums and galleries.

Important buildings for the historical heritage of the world are the Kutub Minar is the highest brick minaret in the world and Humayun’s tomb, which a complex of buildings surrounding the tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun. Among the most attractive religious festivals celebrated in Delhi is Diwali – the festival of light, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

Other important sightseeings are the Indian door, built in memory of Indian soldiers who died in World War I, the observatory of the 18th century Yantar Mantar and the fortress of 16th century Purana keel.

Delhi is a cosmopolitan city with multi-ethnic population, which houses representatives of many cultures and religions. The most common religions are Hinduism and Islam, but there are representatives of the Sikhs, Buddhists and many other faiths. English is the language of many in the city, along with Punjabi language and Urdu.
