Giant Shah Faisal Mosque in Islamabad

Shah Faisal MosqueThe Giant Shah Faisal Mosque in Islamabad is far from the traditions of Islamic architecture typical of southern Asia and also a symbol of the construction has Pakistan. King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia gave the idea and finances the building of the large mosque, as a gift to his neighbor country. The Shah Faisal Mosque was built between 1976 and 1986, constructed by the famous Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay. It is really amazing and very modern for this part of Asia.

In it lacks the traditional domes and arches, prayer hall is large and triangular with has a huge chandelier, the walls are decorated with mosaics and calligraphy, unconventional four minarets reach 88 meters. Currently it is the largest mosque in South Asia and the sixth largest in the world. Definitely traveling to the Middle East, this is something which should be seen in Pakistan, as the architecture is unique and cannot be seen elsewhere in Islamic world.
