Tszyuchzhaygou Valley of Crystals
Tszyuchzhaygou valley of crystals is a nature reserve and national park, located in the northern part of Sichuan province in southwestern China. The valley is known for its many cascading waterfalls, colorful lakes and with snowy peaks. It is part of the Minshan mountain. The altitude of the valley varies from 2,000 to 4500 meters.
In 1992. valley included in the UNESCO list of world natural and cultural heritage, and in 1997. It was declared a biosphere reserve. It is home to extremely rare animals and plants.
The name of the Tszyuchzhaygou valley means “valley of nine villages” in the area really has nine Tibetan villages, of which seven of them are still inhabited today. Best known wonders in the valley are blue-green turquoise lakes. The local Tibetan people called them “Haizi”, which means “son of the sea”.
