Great Wall of China – Impressive Top Destination in Asia
The Great Wall of China for long time had been a symbol of power of the country, now it is world wonder and one of the top destinations, when traveling to Asia. The Great Wall of China has captured the imagination of people all over the world throughout its history.
For the wall it’s said that is the only man-made creation visible from the moon. It was gradually built over 2,000 years as a defense against invading from the north for robbery nomadic tribes. Some sectors may have been built in the VIII century BC, but different parts of the wall were not connected before the unification of the empire in 221 BC, when it extends to about 6000 km.
More than one million workers – peasants, soldiers and prisoners, are involved in the construction of the wall constituent wide enough to allow ten soldiers or five horses to move it between 10,000’s military and watchtowers.
The Great Wall of China was originally built to keep foreigners away, but today it is a major lure for them. The traditional observation position is restored 1.5-kilometer sector Badaling, 80 kilometers northwest of downtown Beijing. A little less tourist alternative is Mutianyu, 91 km northeast of Beijing. Simatai, 111 kilometers northeast of Beijing, is currently the least crowded.
