Wat Rong Khun – White Temple in Thailand

Wat Rong Khun white templeWat Rong Khun temple is located in Chiang Rai province in Thailand and definitely impress with beautiful design and unique pure white architecture. The Wat Rong Khun temple symbolizes heaven and even of its entrance stands guard who sends sinners to hell.

The temple was built in 1998 by Chalermchai Kositpipat and from then until now has become one of the most visited places in Thailand. The temple is almost entirely in white. Decorated only with small pieces of reflective glass that give a spacious and fairy kind.

All images inside ceremonial hall have golden hues. On the ceiling there are four kinds of animals representing earth, water, wind and fire. The elephant symbolizes earth, the snake symbolizes water, the wings swan – the wind and the lion represents the element fire. The sculptures compositions around the temple are various: you can see and monsters and dragons, there composition symbolizing hell, which represents many hands extended from the abyss.
